Durham

Friday

Well, at last Jess met Linds and Tom and they all went up to Collingwood bar where they were joined by Martyn and Dave, some randomers that they had met in Krakow in Poland on the European extravaganza.

After drinks and Pizza the 4 of them, as well as Jos, a climbing friend of Linds’s, retreated to Linds’s kitchen for tea and guitars. All went to bed far too early in the morning, but much fun was had.

Saturday

The day was chilly and misty with a hint of drizzle, but since when was that going to stop those two?

Up at 930, they were happily yelling their support for the St Cuthbert’s society rowing teams, including Heather’s boat, (narrowly beaten unfortunately).

After this Tom, Jos, Jess and Linds went, via Tescos, to explore a gorge just west of Bowes. The gorge was a limestone affair made where the River Greta has carved it’s way through the landscape.

The evening commenced with a trip to Tescos to pick up all the food that they had forgotten about earlier in the day. Then, on return to the flat, this time with Ben (kayak person that Linds’s car lives with) in tow, fun and merriment started again.

Things Learnt: Bread and butter pudding made with banana bread is most excellent.

When Heather, one of Linds’s Flatmates entered the kitchen at 3am leaving an alarm clock behind…we had to make sure it would still wake her up in the morning…

Attempts to make speakers from tin-cans and headphones faileddue to a lack of power, so they were converted into a pair of very hip and trandy old-skool headphones. The rest…don’t ask!

Sunday

Again, the girls were up early and bright to go busking with Martin. Cold weather and a lack of people shortened the session, but the hot chocolate was well worth it. Then, Jess was off home.
