Climbing

boundler-bag.jpgHelsby Hill

Having lived at the bottom of Helsby Hill for a year, with a boulderer, there were a few evenings and mornings up on the hill. Sandstone with plenty of variety, looking over to Liverpool and also North Wales. That was the life.

North Wales

Living close to North Wales meant that I was spoilt for choice on dry weekends with the Great Orme, Cromlech boulders, RAC boulders and Trevor Rocks, Llangollen being in close reach. Unfortuntly kayaking distracted me quite a bit, so opportunities were lost. However, I am quite content with working on multiple projects in all, including Pump traverse - RAC, Heel-Hook traverse - Cromlech and that nasty 6b+ on suspect wall - Trevor Rocks.

Peaks

Even though the peaks should be home territory, I didn’t start climbing there until I was living in Chester, which means they are somewhat unknown to me. However, the Roaches have provided amusement, and I still feel that I’ve barely scratched the surface when it comes to climbing there.

The similar rock to Helsby makes me feel at home, but there is far more variety, and new and interesting people to talk to.

And that V8 mantle I keep -almost- managing to climb…

North

Now living in Durham, climbing locations have changed. Injury has kept me off the rock this year, but I’ve still managed a trip to Kyloe - Northumbria, Goldsborough Carr - Tees and also Scotland.

Oh yes, and now that I’m Media Sec in Durham University Climbing Club, I should be climbing a little more!
